Overcrowding blamed for villawood break out The group's leader said more than 300 houses had been ransacked in the village overnight on Saturday.

Beware of 'faux pas' at Westgate The owner of the 'tourist hotel' being used by tourists to break in and loot properties in west Auckland is not a local citizen.

Man attacked by dog and dragged outside with dog mauler in a driveby Two people were injured by a dog attack on the edge of Westgate Park in Auckland on Saturday night.

Police allege they have CCTV that shows the dogs attacking people, driving them into Wellington and even into a tree.

The dog attack happened on Sunday morning when a man was driving down Wellington Avenue towards Westgate Park near Tana Road.

He turned round and ran up to the driver of a white Mini Cooper. The man then pulled out a knife.

The driver called the police. Police went to the scene, where they spoke to the driver, who then told them he saw "two dogs walking along Wellington", before turning around and throwing the knife in the air.

The driver ran on to Tana Road to avoid getting hit by the dogs. He told officers he was not going to press charges.

The driver pulled over and officers arrested him on suspicion of dangerous driving and attempted escape by fleeing the scene of an accident. They said it was later revealed he had a "very aggressive" dog.

A spokeswoman for police New Zealand said: "The incident was caught on CCTV cameras and is being investigated by the investigation team. At this stage we believe there is CCTV evidence that can lead to other arrests. If a suspect is taken into custody with an outstanding warrant they will not be released on the spot."

In the days since the attack and other recent attacks at tourist properties, police have said the dogs are being trained to only attack people they have a good relationship with.

The Dogwood owner of Aukura said the recent incidents showed how difficult the area is for tourists as people will often try to sneak up on them through closed doors without realising they are being followed.

She said even the smallest dog is capable of breaking into a property to steal belongings from the living room.

Aukura and another dog owner named Oi said they were not afraid.

"The dog's eyes can spot even a large door, so we put the dog in a cage. We put it in a hole, and for a month or so we sleep in the cave with our dog. It's a nightmare," Aukura said.

"For every time a dog attacks a person, there are a lot of people left with no other option but to have a fight or go to the polic

Saints snatch victory from richmond

GREATER MANCHESTER, England, February 17 (Reuters) - The England rugby union team drew 0-0 with the New South Wales and Australia in England's first match of the 2013 Sevens series in the United Kingdom on Friday.

Peter Beaumont led England's pack in the first half in the match between the two nations in the British & Irish Cup in Chester. Beaumont scored the win in the fifth-place play-off with England's two first-half try scores being the first goals scored in a Sevens match since the 2003 World Cup quarterfinal.

After an understrength England defense had been left to rot against the opposition, Ireland's Anthony Foley, who represented Wales in the 2011 World Cup final, stepped up to create the opening score and lead England's attack with a brilliant solo drive that dropped right under Matt Todd.

Beaumont later added an eighth penalty, this time his side's, when he picked up loose ball after loose ball and ran over the tackle to try and score with an extra man in play.

England's defence, meanwhile, was struggling to defend the flank as Beaumont created a huge gap for himself. The Wales international ran from his half and the inside fullback, Ryan Jones, turned away his next attempt from an open spot, but the pass was wide, resulting in a penalty.

Ireland started to get back into their groove in the second half, scoring a try with their fourth try of the match in the 20th minute. England were able to respond quickly, however, with the second try resulting in the equalizing score, as Hooker had just dropped an offload in front of the line to Foley before hooking it to Beaumont.
